Travelers from the U.S. can expect their existing, 120 volt adapters, to work on the island. Many international travelers may need to purchase adapters. You will find that many shops and lodging accomadations will also carry/provide these adapters as well. Please reach out ahead of time, to confirm with your lodging accomadations that these tems are available.

What restrictions are there on the sale of alcohol in Taniti?

Alcohol is not permitted to be sold between the hours of midnight and 9:00 a.m. local time.

What is the drinking age in Taniti?

The drinking age on the island is 18, but this is not a strictly inforced law.

Do residents on the island speak English?

Many younger Tanitians speak fluent English. Though, very little English is spoken in more rural areas, and even less so amongst more elder residents.

Would I be able to seek medical attention in the event I should have a medical need or experience a medical emergency?

There is one hospital on the island, but there are several clinics that will offer care equal to that travelers might expect. The hospital is staffed by many multilingual employees.

Should I concerned about crime in Taniti?

Taniti is very safe and violent crime is extremely rare. We have noticed that as tourism increases, there are more reports of pickpocketing and other minor crimes. Therefore, take proper care in securing your belongings as you would most anywhere else.

Are there common times or holidays when things may be closed in Taniti?

Taniti uses the U.S. dollar as its currency, but many businesses will also accept euros and yen. Several banks facilitate currency exchange, and many businesses accepct major credit cards.
